Trespassers- Turks & Caicos

Dear Prince, We appreciate you giving us your blessings to enjoy your home. Thanks for making our experience in Turks like no other. Wish you were here. Rest in peace. -TrespassersPrince Roger Nelson’s Island Estate

So, one time in Turks & Caicos we kind of trespassed our way into Prince’s estate. Now look, we didn’t jump the fence. Let’s just say women have delicate ways of getting what we want 😉

Plus, Lana is his chosen fan, we had to try. It started out as just randomly hearing about Prince’s property through a native of the land.

*Sidebar: Natives are gems 😇

Then we decided to just go to the house and view it from the outside. Maybe take a pic of it or two. Admire it. You know, tourist flow. But nah, we were in there with our swimwear. How we got in… I cannot tell you. It’s an island girltrip secret.

So we’re in the courtyard by the pool, overlooking the bottom, the ocean, the land. I’ve never been that high up in a single home…ever. I’ve never been in a house so grand. It was like standing in a beach castle kingdom of solitude and amity. We’re all happy, embracing each other, and taking pictures. Peaceful, despite the circumstance. Prince is not there to great us…or have us arrested. Yet, it felt like we were invited by his spirit.

We didn’t go in his bedrooms. We have manners. Though the doors were locked, we didn’t really want to. It was just a nice blessing to experience something so rare and so awesome. It was sad to see the property upkeep fail. It just means that it’s true, Prince is dead. 😔

Or is he?

The purple driveway. Another first that I’ve seen. Shit was dope. It leads up a hill to a pastel yellow mansion. Quite surprising color. Yet it reveals Prince’s delicate side that we all know so well.

We made our way down to his private ocean. Yea we got comfortable. Like I said before, we felt invited. I climbed in the rocky side with my jean shorts and tank still on. The rocky parts interest me. The rest of us got in and we all ended up on the shore of the smooth side, together as a group. Just coolin’ it. Even the most conservative of my travel comrades, Allison, got in the ocean. I looked the hottest that I ever looked in a swimsuit. It’s Sher’s birthday, we’re celebrating.

😜

The water in Turk & Caicos is like no other. A shade of blue that looks heavenly. Like you could walk on it. Prince’s private ocean is enough to calm Donald Trump.

What really made this trip so special and surprisingly spiritual, was the fact that Lana got to experience that. She just happened to be present at Prince’s last performance in life. Right here at the historical Fox Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. She just so happens to have a Prince tattoo, and just so happened to bring her Prince T-shirt with her. Now you tell me Prince isn’t one of her guardian angels and I’ll call you a nonbeliever.

What did we learn from trespassing? Sometimes when you do something bad, something good will come from it. Life is about exploration. Thanks Prince.

I visited NOLA recently, for the first time in my life. It was magical. When I entered, I felt the sadness and pain of the Katrina. I imagined the water above my reach. The cries.

But the deeper we drove into the city, the humility, beauty, friendliness, and uninhibited fun revealed itself.

It was lovely.

The seasonings are like no other. The seafood is in abundance. The people are friendly. The accents are distinctive and intriguing.
